Franz Bakery Supports Local Non-Profits - Including the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle - With $5,000 Donation

PORTLAND, Ore. –- April 23, 2009 – Franz Bakery, the largest independent, family-owned bakery on the West Coast, recently donated a total of $5,000 to four local charities. The Ronald McDonald Houses in Seattle received a generous gift of $3,500. The remaining three, The Pacific NW Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Association (SGNA), “Pat’s Heart” The National Foundation for Transplants and Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer (SHOC) Foundation, each received $500. The charities will use the gifts from Franz to support their organization’s facilities and activities.

To raise money, Franz sold packages of cookies for one dollar each at the Northwest Women’s Show in Seattle. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event’s bread and cookie sale went directly to the organizations.

“Every year we sell a selection of Franz baked goods at the Northwest Women’s Show and donate dollars raised to local organizations,” said Marc Albers, president and chief operations officer of Franz Bakery. “This year we chose to support the local Ronald McDonald House Charities, SGNA, Pat’s Heart and SHOC. Each of these organizations are amazing and we’re very proud to support them in their efforts to provide medical assistance and care to individuals, families and children in need.”
